My Secret Decorating Tips (and my blue lamp is in the new spot!)

Shopping for new things in stores or online can be totally fun (especially when you’re excited about decorating for fall or winterizing your home!) but I think by exchanging what you already have it can be just as (if not more) rewarding! Do you agree?

If you’re new to decorating, I’m glad you’re here to learn. Today I’m going to let you in on my favorite jewelry tip…a secret decor idea that you’ve always wondered about (and I’ll talk a little about why I moved the blue lamp to this room!).

Of course, if you’re a seasoned decorator, you’ll know what I’m talking about. And if you’ve been following me for years, you’ve seen it I am here again and again! It works and it’s fun too. You have seen me decorate in this way over time, through workshops in various rooms, homes, in all seasons.

My Secret Decorating Tips (and my blue lamp is in the new spot!)

When you’re new to decorating, you wonder (as I did years ago) if you’re buying things every time you love your home. Have you ever wondered how some styles can look so eclectic and unique, while others are almost identical to a few others you’ve seen?

Or maybe you’re wondering if people redecorate to keep up with some trends. You may have noticed how some people seem to quickly move into a room without buying anything new. Maybe (like I did!) I wonder how others could afford all that new furniture or decor!

It seems like a total mystery, or maybe just an endless amount of running luck is required to stay stylish or stylish.

Sometimes people can spend a fortune on all new furniture or period jewelry. It is true. That’s one way to do it! But those of you who have collected furniture or accessories over time know my secret style. When you go for this part, it not only saves money, but gives a more unique and collected look that can stand the test of time. This secret offers you the ability to repair your home at any time without spending a fortune.

My Secret Decorating Tips (and my blue lamp is in the new spot!)

My secret decorating tip is to collect pieces you love over time. When you decorate this way, it’s fun to update a room even without buying new things because you love what you have. When you choose wisely to begin with, the look comes out of the expression. Go shopping for your home and you’ll often find the right piece to decorate your space or decorate for the new season.

And when you don’t have what you need but have the money to add to your collection or find something special enough to buy, you can do that too! Every time you add a new piece (or several) to what you’ve collected over the years, you get a fresh new look and can quickly pull your home together at any time.

This is exactly what I did in the new house, as I often do in every house we live in. I would definitely buy a new accessory, or a coat, or even a piece of furniture, if the situation allows and the right item. is found But I also like when I don’t have to buy something new. I enjoy mixing and matching and swapping what I have until the room feels right to me.

If I come across something that I like (or if it just doesn’t work well in the new space), then by all means, enjoy the new addition.

As you can see, I moved the blue glass lamp from the upstairs office here. I loved it upstairs (I’d love it in any room to be honest!), but I wanted a round lamp in this corner. I felt that it was like a larger round lamp, but something that wouldn’t block the light from the window.

For a week or two I had a beautiful tiffany style lamp sitting there that we’ve had for several decades (and it seems to be back in fashion!). We love it, but after living in that place for a while, I decided I would like it better in another corner. (Even if you’re a seasoned decorator, a lot of decorating time involves moving things around until you love them where they are!) So I went shopping for something in my house that would work.

Turns out, it was just a blue glass lamp! It is heavy enough to fill some space there, but airy enough to allow light and color to flow through the glass from the exterior window. I miss this ceiling lamp, but I only have one so this spot took priority!

I bought that lamp on sale a few years ago for my last bedroom because it just felt like ME. Remember the blue glass lantern I made? I feel like blue glass lamps are always working somewhere in my house. At the same time as the blue lamp was added, I bought this blue rug and now they are twinned here again.

Purchasing new items over time expands your options and updates your current look. The combination of things collected over time, or with any new item you want to get, is what creates your unique style!
